Youth for Sustainability: Cultivating leaders through education, innovations, and partnerships

The overall goal of this online side event at ECOSOC Youth Forum will be to showcase how youth are taking action to combat climate change (SDG 13) through innovative climate solutions from across our school communities. Objectives include: 1.) providing a platform for young people to share their perspectives, engage in dialogue, and give recommendations to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda; and 2.) providing an opportunity for young people to showcase their climate innovations, with a particular focus on green skills and the environment. Specifically, this side event will address Target 13.3 to “improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change…” and Target 17.17 to: “encourage and promote effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships…”. This event will be a clear follow-up to SDSN’s side event at the ECOSOC Partnership Forum, where Global Schools launched a comprehensive case-study guide that showcased curriculum strategies for teachers and schools to improve capacities to address climate change. The outcomes of this youth forum will be the launch of a training program for teachers.
