In Hong Kong, immense density meets staggering abundance, with over 3,000 tonnes of food discarded daily alongside persistent food insecurity.
Solving this demands an integrated ecosystem where technology, charity, and community action converge. This is the reason why FoodSave was founded by Shi Qi Ooi.
For Learning Planet Festival, FoodSave sets out to organize is roundtable uniting four key stakeholders:
1. Food Angel on transforming food rescue logistics.
2. ImpactHK on meals that fight both waste and urban poverty.
3. Feeding Hong Kong on optimizing NGO redistribution.
4. FoodSave on using apps to turn prevention into rewarding habits.
Together, we’ll explore converting linear systems (buy-use-waste) into circular ones (save-share-sustain), leveraging Hong Kong’s core values of efficiency and innovation. Attendees will gain insight into multi-stakeholder solutions, how technology enables systemic change, and practical models for youth engagement in sustainability—offering vital lessons for dense cities globally.
