Rising nationalism, authoritarian policies, and political polarization are driving new waves of state-based armed conflict. These conflicts not only violate human rights but also dismantle education systems, destroy livelihoods, and deepen inequality. Young people — often both the victims and unwilling participants — rarely have a seat at the decision-making table, despite being key to long-term peace.
To address state-based armed conflict through youth-led peacebuilding, civic education, and socio-economic resilience, Youth Accord was founded. The organization seeks to empower youth to act as peacebuilders and social innovators who mitigate the drivers of conflict and foster civic dialogue, inclusion, and sustainable economic alternatives in conflict-prone areas.
Youth Accord is grateful to UNESCO, UN University and Learning Planet Institute for the invitation to host an event at the Festival.
