Veerle Vandeweerd

Dr. Vandeweerd has 40+ years of experience in sustainable development policy, program and investment development and implementation. Worked at universities, multilateral, non-for-profit, and private sector organisations, and for local, and national governments. Served the UN system for 20+ years in different capacities and co-founded several sustainable development organisations on disruptive technological and financial innovations for greener economic transitions. Leads the education track at GESI and is GESI director for DEFIA. Holds a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Antwerp, taught at the University of Zambia, conducted research on African Sleeping sickness, and headed the Flemish Government environmental reporting department.
