Education Activist for Afghan Women and Girls @ The 30 Birds Foundation
Soomaya is an Afghan education activist dedicated to the empowerment of women and the preservation of human rights. Originally a dentistry student on the verge of graduation, her life took a dramatic turn when Afghanistan fell to the Taliban in August 2021. She embarked on a courageous journey through countless Taliban checkpoints to reach safety in Canada. Now residing there, she continues to shed light on the plight of her people and serves as an influential voice for the marginalized. She is also a second year biomedical foundations student at the University of Saskatchewan.
