Samiya Selim

Dr. Samiya Selim is a Marine Social Scientist with over 15 years of experience in the UK and Bangladesh, working on environmental conservation, climate change, and sustainable development. Her expertise lies in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research integrating social and natural sciences. Her research focuses on social–ecological approaches to achieve equitable outcomes for people and biodiversity, with interests in ocean equity, blue justice, climate adaptation, natural resource governance, and sustainability transformations.
Her work includes engaging hard-to-reach communities in environmental action and behavior change, and her PhD research used historical approaches to identify shifting baselines in fisheries and coastal ecosystems.
