Under the guidance of Dr. Urvashi Sahni, SHEF launched the Life Plan Program in 2021, which Mariya Shah has been leading with dedication. With six years at SHEF, Mariya empowers girls from marginalized communities to overcome societal pressures, early marriage threats and financial hardships. The program not only helps girls build aspirations and gain confidence but also facilitates a transformative shift in parental attitudes. Parents are now prioritizing their daughters’ higher education over dowry, recognizing them as individuals with equal abilities, rights, and choices, and supporting them to lead lives free from patriarchal norms.
