Je’anna Clements
Staff @ Riverstone Village
Je’anna Clements is a mother, writer, co-founder, and facilitator at Riverstone Village in South Africa, and a founding member of the Rights-Centric Education Network. After studying Philosophy, Political Science, and Psychology, she began working with young people on environmental rights and saw how many found their education limiting instead of empowering. In 2005, she registered for a Master’s in Philosophy of Education to create a progressive model that fulfilled young people’s rights. Disillusioned by restrictive academic structures, she left to pursue self-directed study, ultimately finding in Sudbury Valley School’s model a way to optimise childhood experiences while upholding youth rights.
