Abdelmonim El Allaly
Story & Process Sharing Facilitator @ Tamkeen Community Foundation for Human Development
I am in my twenties, I flew away from my community to search for a missing lamp inside me. The lamp that illuminates one’s darkness of life. It is a lamp that exists, that dwells in the here, the present and burning. I realised, I only needed to express my-self not to seek. I only needed to listen not to speak; listen to a soul that is not afraid of experience nor loss.
I never walked on the marked path so as not to end up where others went. I learned to trust my community and my neighbours. This trust stemmed from the desire to be silent in a place where voices were loud. With the passage of time, I learned that silence is the beginning of learning, that it is wisdom not something negative; the key to the closed doors of my community, neighbours and friends.

I was deprived of school at an early age. I started working young, in a car body shop. With the passage of time, I became active in my community, co-creating in workshops, searching for knowledge and sharing my path and the path of my community with others. With young and old, I learned to read and write. I grew my self-esteem and self-acceptance. I grew the certitude that every day in my life is an opportunity and a gift that may not be repeated. In 2017, a heavenly opportunity, I became a community facilitator in my community, facilitating with her our process of being and becoming. Today I facilitate the sharing of stories of neighborhoods, villages, schools .. Stories of humanity, such as mine.
