The Breast Cancer Awareness Climate-Health Leadership Workshop invites you to the ‘Youth Taking the Wheel: Breast Cancer and Health in the Hands of A New Generation’ event! It is a hybrid initiative that equips young Africans with practical skills in health communication, advocacy, and community outreach at the intersection of breast cancer and climate-related health challenges. Grounded in lived experience and community realities, the project trains participants through expert-led sessions, strategy labs, and advocacy simulations, before supporting them to “step down” the training into local campaigns in at least 20 communities.
Speakers will share evidence from the 2025 workshop cycle, which reached over 1,300 beneficiaries with breast cancer education, breast self-examination demonstrations, myth-busting dialogues, and screening referral guidance, leading to measurable gains in knowledge, confidence in self-screening, and intention to seek early diagnosis. In dialogue with institutions and partners, the session will explore how models like this can further youth engagement from shallow to sustained, community-rooted practice.
Event Timing: January 24th 10:00-11:30 EST
