Educational continuity under conflict remains one of the most pressing challenges of our age – when war, displacement, or system collapse disrupts young people’s dreams. How can educators, institutions, and partners move beyond ad-hoc responses to protect learning as a right while upholding learner-led approaches?
This panel explores how academic protection systems can enable continuity for conflict-affected students through international education pathways, spanning safe access to learning, legal and administrative navigation, and sustained academic engagement. Drawing on Phoenix Space’s “From Education to Livelihoods” programme, which in 2025 supported 100 Palestinian students to pursue higher education in the UK and other countries in partnership with a consortium of 30 universities, foundations, legal bodies, and government actors. Panelists will share a practical, multi-phase framework for designing and scaling academic continuity in crisis contexts.
By attending our event you will gain a clear understanding of the barriers that derail international study pathways under crisis, explore a three-phase academic protection model (safe access and mobility → stabilisation and continuity → progression pathways), and identify the key partnerships required at each stage. The session offers replicable practices for educators, NGOs, funders, and policymakers working at the intersection of education, displacement, and youth futures.
