This participatory, dialogue-based workshop explores how communities are formed, sustained, and revived, using weaving as both a practice and a systems language. It invites educators, practitioners, makers, and community organizers into a shared space of reflection and connection, centered on low-tech approaches to sustainable and desirable futures.
Rather than focusing on speed, scale, or technological complexity, the session emphasizes slow processes, shared responsibility, and the intelligence already present within communities. Participants are invited to listen, but to actively engage in rethinking how networks are held and kept alive through present participation.
In this workshop, weaving is understood as more than a craft. It is a way of making visible how individual threads, i.e. people, skills, stories, and practices interlace to form stronger social and ecological systems.
As a low-tech practice, weaving embodies attentiveness, patience, and interdependence. No prior experience with weaving is required; the practice is used as a shared metaphor and reflective tool rather than a technical skill.
Beyond the session itself, we are excited to invite participants to remain connected as members of the portal and, where possible, to contribute their skills, perspectives, and practices to the continued growth of the network.
