In the face of the escalating climate crisis, the intersection of music education and environmental sustainability has become a pressing topic that demands utmost attention. Ahead of the upcoming Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra “Song for the Earth” summer camp, taking place in July 2024 in Pesaro (Italy) in partnership with LiberaMusica, Sistema Europe is hosting a debate that aims to explore the multifaceted and increasingly crucial relationships between music, education and the environment.
What is the potential of music education to contribute to personal and cultural development and to foster environmental awareness and action? The panel will bring together experts from diverse fields, including music educators, policymakers, and artists, to engage in a constructive discourse on how music education can play a pivotal role in addressing the challenges posed by the climate crisis.
A special, recorded appearance will be given by world-renowned opera singer and educator Joyce DiDonato in conversation with Grant Clark, award-winning journalist and communications manager at the Community Arts Network, host of the entire evening.
