How do we build a flourishing future on a fragile planet? In this live-streamed, virtual learning event, you will travel across two continents and discover how the UN SDGs can help us imagine and build a more sustainable future. Through first-hand, real-time encounters with communities on the frontlines of global challenges, you will witness human resilience in action and explore how you can play an active role in shaping a more sustainable future.
The journey begins in Kibera, Nairobi—the largest informal settlement in Africa—where over 250,000 residents live within an area smaller than Central Park. Guided by local youth, you will see how communities at the margins are affected by climate change. You will identify SDGs in context and visit the Globe From Home Planet School, which equips children with skills to envision climate-resilient futures. From there, the session travels live to Bhopal, India, to meet the incredible women of Mahashakti Seva Kendra (MSK)—a collective born after the 1984 Bhopal gas disaster, which exposed over half a million people to toxic chemicals and claimed more than 20,000 lives. Since 1992, MSK has trained women to build dignified, sustainable livelihoods, offering a powerful example of SDGs in action and hope.
