Around the world, floods and infrastructure failures are increasingly linked to tensions over water, energy, food, and migration, making disasters a foreign‑policy issue as much as a local emergency. At the same time, youth are often first responders and innovators in their own communities, yet are rarely included in formal negotiations or policy design around disasters and strategic resources.
Existing initiatives show that youth‑led disaster risk reduction programs can significantly improve community preparedness and social cohesion when young people co‑design solutions with adults. In addition, diplomacy and crisis simulations in schools can build practical skills in negotiation, perspective‑taking, and multilateral problem‑solving, but are rarely grounded in students’ own local risk landscapes.
How can Rescovery help? Through our endeavors, led by founder Arinsak Chaijindaratana, the organization aims to empower youth‑designed climate resilience solutions as well as youth disaster relief and prevention toolkits that test ideas in practice and feed evidence back into policy debates. Join us to create the next generation of “disaster diplomats” at Learning Planet Festival 2026.
