This presentation highlights Reeformers, a coral transplantation initiative co-founded by 14-year-old Ryan Winston Angouw, showcasing its impact in the community and transforming a barren sand flat into a thriving ecosystem. Reeformers has planted 3,000 corals, introduced 220 species inhabiting the site, and contributed to 190+ household incomes within the coastal community.

The latter statistic raises an essential question: how does conservation translate into real economic value? The presentation will explore how environmental investment and conservation create a circular feedback loop that can ultimately support local economic activity.

Using Reeformers as a case study, the session will discuss the importance and need for more youth involvement, not just for a better planet but for healthier, more sustainable economic development. Join us as we explore how youth can shape and balance planet’s and people’s well-being in a commercially viable manner.
