The session opens with a screening of “Suvemäe – Pioneer of Possibility”, a documentary about a school within a public school in Estonia. The film demonstrates that schools with different philosophies can operate under the same roof and provide children opportunities to have more control over their education without having to change schools or leave their community behind.
This will be followed by an open dialogue featuring the producer Mia Schmallenbach, and educators Charlie Moreno-Romero and Derry Hannam, both featured in the film and well-known advocates of democratic education. It will be moderated by Je’anna Clements, author, school founder and powerful advocate for rights respecting education.
