We are living through overlapping global crises: environmental breakdown, deepening social injustice, and education systems struggling to prepare children for an uncertain future. Nature-Based Education (NBE) offers a hopeful, practical response. By placing nature at the heart of learning, NBE supports healthier, happier, more capable learners—and fosters lifelong stewardship of the planet.

In November 2025, Salzburg Global published a Statement on Nature-Based Education, co-authored by over 40 leaders from education, conservation, and environmental fields. The Statement calls on educators, families, and decision-makers to use their agency and imagination to scale NBE for the benefit of both people and planet.

The Statement is structure around four domains for activating learning in, with, for and as nature. This interactive session invites participants to learn more about the Statement and the work behind it, and then to hear form two outstanding practitioners who will share examples of work already happening across the four domains.
