The Life Plan program is an initiative designed to help students, especially girls, to find answers to three key questions – 1) Where do you want to get to? 2) How will you get there 3) what do you need to t complete this journey? The program helps students envision and build a future of their own choosing. By guiding students to identify their aspirations, develop practical steps to achieve them, and prepare for potential challenges. It empowers them to take control of their lives, building a sense of agency and freedom. What makes this program truly unique is its focus involving parents through one-on-one discussions. Parents are encouraged to engage with their child’s aspirations, providing the emotional and practical support needed to pursue their dreams. When working with girls, the program takes on even greater significance. In many communities, girls face societal expectations that prioritize marriage over education. The Life Plan program challenges these norms by emphasizing that girls have the right to dream beyond traditional roles.
SHEF is organizing a panel discussion with students and parents who have participated in the Life Plan Program. Their stories will showcase how the program has shaped aspirations and broken barriers.
