HIGHLIGHTING THE ROLE OF CULTURAL NORMS &DIVERSITY IN ENGAGING THE YOUTH FOR CLIMATE ACTION.
The global canker of the devastating impacts of climate change is borne largely by the global south ,and evidently, the younger generations will be at the forefront of this challenge.
Climate change isn’t only an environmental catastrophe but a social one amidst the tonnes of problems faced in society. In Africa, particularly, climate education is inaccessible; the little education ongoing is limited to science students and individuals who take the extra step in learning and making change.
This session will explore the importance of true participation, decolonial climate education and the need to involve culture specific elements for effective education and climate action initiatives.
