In the face of complex modern problems and climate anxiety, Arizona State University (ASU) and UL Research Institutes (ULRI) seek to equip educators with the tools needed to teach safety science and sustainability in K-12 learning environments. Created as a result of this collaboration, the Xplorlabs Educator Fellowship focuses on the exploration of phenomena, emerging technologies, and multidisciplinary challenges that impact safety in the 21st century, as well as how action-oriented pedagogies (AOPs) can position students to engage in consequential learning and real-world action projects in their communities. Xplorlabs Educators include current and pre-service classroom teachers, informal educators, and middle and high school youth who have collectively tackled projects ranging from regenerative farming to green building materials. During this program, select Fellows from this and last years’ Fellowship will share their experiences in co-designing learning opportunities and preferred futures with their students. Don’t miss this chance to hear from and connect with an amazing group of AOP practitioners!
