MindLink is a board game aimed to bridge the gap between youth and elderly with dementia. Through the game’s interactive questions and activities, players embark on a journey to help Grandma (game character) restore her memory. The characters discover new memories and connections they never knew they had with each other.
Growing up, Erika spent every summer in Malaysia with her grandparents, both of whom had dementia. Despite communication barriers, their moments together—sharing food, exploring Ipoh, and watching TV—taught her the importance of cherishing time. In her culture, it wasn’t common for children to bond or create a close connection with their grandparents, making the two weeks she visited every summer, the only way they could possibly connect. Erika learned that every moment counts, and she carries that lesson and passion into her work today.
With that, Erika decided to create MindLink. She wanted to combine her passions of helping the youth and elderly community and create something that would help a problem at its root.
Erika is happy to share the launch of MindLink at the Learning Planet Festival. She invites friends from around the world to join her to play the game and create new memories together!
