Founded and led by Lorelyn Schroeder, HeartStart is a multilingual digital platform dedicated to empowering refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers as they navigate uncertainty and social isolation.
Making its global debut at the Learning Planet Festival 2026, HeartStart aims to co-design with other youth bridges between communities, leading to accessible tools, trusted information, and emotional support to help individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. The inspiration for this initiative emerged from real-world experiences during UN General Assembly Week 2025 in New York and other global dialogues addressing displacement and inclusion.
Join us at this even to collaborate with UN agencies, humanitarian partners, youth advocates, and digital innovators to reimagine how innovation can foster belonging and resilience. This event highlights the platform’s founding story, its mission to combat exclusion, and its vision of a future where every displaced person is seen and heard — regardless of language, background, or borders.
