Sreya Ann Oommen

Sreya Ann Oommen is an Environmental Humanities scholar whose research focuses on Island Literary Studies, Critical Ocean Studies, Decolonial Studies, and Sustainability Studies.
She received her PhD in English Literature from the University of Delhi in 2023. Her current research problematizes the perception of islands within pre-established frameworks that restrict the authentic representation of the historical, social, and cultural reality of island communities. She also studies the definitions of islands, islandness, and placeness to conceptualize the analyses of literary texts within Island Studies. Oommen has also published articles on Anglo-Indian Studies, Human Rights Literature, and Ecocriticism.
