Evgeny Gurin is a British national with Ukrainian and Russian heritage. He obtained his master’s degree in Russian and East European Studies from the University of Oxford. His master’s research focused on contemporary Russian state narratives and political discourse towards Central Asia and its peoples.
He has professional experience in research and administrative roles across a variety of sectors. Prior to joining UNU, he interned with UN ESCAP in Almaty, Kazakhstan and with the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands. He has also worked in political risk consultancy in the UK, and interned with an NGO in Kazakhstan.
