Anna Penido

Anna Penido is currently the executive director for the Centro Lemann for Leadership and Equity in Education. She has a Bachelor in Journalism and a specialization in Social Management for Development from the Federal University of Bahia.
She participated in the Advanced Leadership Initiative at Harvard University (2011), the Human Rights Training Program at Columbia University (1998), and the Thematic Residency on Youth as Agents of Transformative Change at The Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center (2018).
As the director of the Inspirare Institute (2012-2020), Anna contributed to the creation of the Brazilian curriculum standards and high school reform. She was the chief of the UNICEF field office for the States of São Paulo and Minas Gerais (2007-2010) and founded and directed CIPÓ – Comunicação Interativa (1999-2007), a non-governmental organization dedicated to guaranteeing the rights of children, adolescents and young people through the educational use of communication means and technologies. Anna has been an Ashoka fellow since 2002.
