Co-led by the UN Interagency Secretariat of UN DPPA, UNFPA, and the UN Youth Office, the Second Independent Progress Study on Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS)—mandated under Action 20(c) of the Pact for the Future—was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2024. Building on the 2018 global study, the report captures the evolving contributions of young people to peace processes and conflict resolution, assessing progress in policy, inclusion, and funding while identifying remaining barriers to meaningful youth participation.
The collaborative dialogue between Active Peace and Wellesley College brings together young leaders from the United States, Canada, Afghanistan, and Cambodia to discuss the study and explore the role of the younger generation in shaping peace and redefining compassion as a transformative force in peacebuilding. Drawing on innovative data, forward-looking recommendations, and lived experiences amplifying marginalized voices, speakers demonstrate how inclusive leadership fosters intergenerational trust, strengthens multilateral action, and addresses systemic inequalities. Participants will leave with new insights, deeper reflection, and actionable strategies to advance youth-centered peacebuilding across communities.
This convening at Learning Planet Festival 2026 is Part 1 of a multi-series of virtual and hybrid events to be organized throughout the year. Stay tuned for further updates on subsequent editions.
