We invite you to a discussion on how teacher education can be shaped through experience-based and collective learning. Using our experienced based programme (at DNS – The Necessary Teacher Training College) as a starting point, we will explore concrete examples of how teacher training programmes can be designed to prepare educators not only to teach, but to engage with the world.
What happens when travel becomes a method for learning rather than a break from it? How can travelling together strengthen curiosity, global citizenship and challenge future teachers to reflect on their role in an unequal and interconnected world? And how do these experiences influence the way teachers later meet their students?
Lastly, but not least important how do we build collective personalities in students and teachers? What can shared economy, consensus decision making, responsibility teach us about leadership, democracy, and education?
From my perspective as a headmistress, the key question is this: how can we ensure that experience-based learning is not accidental, but intentional and reflective? Together, we will question, share, and rethink how teacher training can educate the whole person.
