It has been estimated that around 30 to 40 years from now, all fossil fuels will be depleted. The current percentage of renewable electricity supply is approximately 30% – a considerable number, but far from sufficient. Globally, 675 million people-mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa-still live without electricity, and nearly 2.3 billion people still use polluting fuels and technologies for cooking as of 2023. This problem requires more than simply attention from the public to be resolved for the sustainable development of mankind as a whole.
Founded by Boyu Frank Zhao, Ecovolver is a youth-led social enterprise whose mission is to ultimately enhance the transition to affordable and clean energy. Its procedural pathway to further address SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, the MATRIX framework, was designed by its founder based on the inspirational insights gained at the ECOSOC Youth Forum and UNGA 2025 conferences – the framework respectively consists of Mold, Advance, Target, Reinforce, Integrate, and Expand.
