Director CLUE+, Associate Professor Geoarchaeology & Anthropocene Studies, Faculties of Humanities and Science, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Sjoerd Kluiving is the First Distinguished Fellow of the Anthropocene. He studies the deep history of landscapes, human-nature relations and transitions into a sustainable society. As a geologist and physical geographer, he applies earth sciences to archeology in interdisciplinary research and teaching, with emphasis on the Anthropocene. Sjoerd co-leads the Environmental Humanities Center at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He received Horizon 2020 funding in TERRANOVA and NWO Melting Pot, and (co-)supervises 7 PhD students in fields of science, humanities and social science.
