Jacob Ashong

Jacob Ashong built Ghana Planetarium Science Centre in 2008. After Junior School Jacob left Ghana to go to the UK and supported himself while gaining ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels. He studied Biochemistry while working at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund Laboratories, and later worked in the University of Ghana Biochemistry Department. Jacob holds a Masters degree in Human Nutrition and a Doctorate in the Biochemistry of Parasites from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Jacob’s wife Jane studied Art and Design and Educational Psychology. The Ashongs invested savings into the planetarium science centre with the help of donations.
