The world currently lacks systemic solutions to important issues such as affordable eco-housing, renewable energy networks, local food systems, and green job training, Despite keen youth engagement to celebrate cultural diversity, and drive systemic change for a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future for all, there remain fundamental gaps in the current ecosystem to make this a reality.
Ecommunal’s mission is to focus on creating sustainable communities by integrating infrastructure planning with resource management and workforce development. It involves building affordable housing with green technologies, establishing community gardens and renewable energy sources, and offering job training programs for immigrants and long-term residents. This will foster economic integration and reduce societal polarization through shared community resources and goals
The project was launched by its founder, Zidong (Duke) Zhao, at UN General Assembly Week 2025.
