LearningPlanet Festival

from 24 to 27 January 2024

The LearningPlanet Festival is back. Join us in building a Learning Planet

Known throughout the world for celebrating learning and uniting to transform education, we are excited to bring you the 5th edition of the LearningPlanet Festival, from 24th to 27th January, 2024.

Our festival kicks off by bringing together the global learning community – Planetizens Unite! – to mark International day of Education on 24th Jan, an event that saw more than 60,000 of you celebrating learning to take care of oneself, each other, and our planet last year, and promises to be even greater in 2024!

Our annual gathering continues with 3-days (25-27th January) dedicated to reinventing learning in the 21st century. Our aim is to foster human flourishing and a thriving environment. Under the theme Architects for Tomorrow: Building a Learning Planet, our team is already planning a rich programme with a special emphasis on three core dimensions: Intergenerational Societies, Lifelong Learning, and truly Transformative Action.

This year again, we’re inviting the members of our LearningPlanet Alliance and all change agents from education, communities, governments, businesses and grass-roots organisations to join us in creating an even more exciting Festival.

During our 4 days together, we expect more than 500 physical, digital and hybrid partner-led events, including hackathons, conferences, workshops, performances, and screenings, that together make up the LearningPlanet Festival.  We can’t wait to see you there!

Our 2024 Festival Focus

Uniting to Transform Education – the LearningPlanet Alliance’s mission – has been embodied in previous years’ festivals by bringing together the global education and learning community and ensuring youth inclusion and active participation in all gatherings.

For this 5th edition, we seek to stretch beyond these actions in putting a special focus on 3 critical areas: Intergenerational Societies, Transformative Action and Life-Long Learning, and as such, use the Festival to unite and bring together a wider range of actors, all the Learning Planetizens!

Submit your events

The Festival programme starts on the International Day of Education, Wednesday 24 January, and runs until Saturday 27 January, but we know the transformation and gathering never stops. This is why we will, once again, extend the Festival programme dates from 17 to 31 January, to take into account different holiday periods and activities, especially for those partners in the Southern hemisphere.

This Festival is yours and now is the time to start designing your events and contacting speakers and guests.

Our 2024 Programme Preview

While the collective elaboration of the 2024 edition will progress in the coming weeks, and will fully take shape by early January, we are happy to give you a sneak preview of what is being built.

International Day of Education, 24 January 2024, all day

Learning to take care of oneself, others and the planet

Planetizens Unite! To mark International day of Education on 24th January, in close partnership with UNESCO, the LearningPlanet Festival is the annual gathering of the Alliance and of the educational community at large: teachers’ networks, universities, students and youth movements, artists, activists, institutions, social entrepreneurs, start-ups and companies… With 500+ physical, online and hybrid events organised by hundreds of partners, it has become the global event to showcase transformation efforts, join forces on ideas, share data and learnings, and to celebrate and power up our education transformation ambitions.

This year again, we welcome all planetizens to join us in equipping ourselves with the learnings and education needed to protect and nourish us as individuals, as active members in society, and as inhabitants of our planet.

This day is yours to celebrate and events you will be creating with your communities will help make the January 2024 edition even greater and an opportunity for new collaborations, and a launchpad for your initiatives.
