Renan Ferreirinha is secretary of education for the city of Rio, where he is responsible for leading the largest municipal public school system in Latin America. Renan ran for “state deputy” in Rio de Janeiro in 2018. He got 24,854 votes and was elected as the youngest MP at the age of 25. In his first term, he became president of the Economic Committee and vice-president of the Science and Technology Committee. In 2017 he founded Acredito, a political movement that has helped renew the political scene in Brazil. This followed Mapa Educação, a movement that he started in 2014
