Gerhard Pulfer

Gerhard Pulfer has been managing education programmes and initiatives in displacement contexts since 2016. He is part of the Education in Displacement team at Porticus. Porticus coordinates the philanthropic endeavours founded by the Brenninkmeijer family business owners, continuing a tradition of social engagement stretching back as far as 1841.
Before joining Porticus, Gerhard Pulfer has accumulated many years of experience with local NGOs, UNDP and the Austrian Development Agency in Palestine and the wider Middle East, as well as in Asia. He has for several years been embedded with the Palestinian Ministry of Planning in the field of aid coordination and governance reform.
He holds a Ph.D. in Political Sciences from the University of Vienna.
Gerhard Pulfer is also the father of two school-aged children and the husband of a teacher, who experiences the good, the bad and the ugly of our education systems on a daily basis.
