Danie Yao

Born and raised in British Columbia, Canada, Danie Yao loved nature but saw the destruction that climate change caused. To learn more, he pursued debate and researched online various global topics to gain insight on environmental issues. After his experiences in the 2025 UN ECOSOC Youth Forum, he realized that misinformation, despite its enormous socio-economic costs, was sidelined in comparison to well-known issues. However, he found that misinformation negatively affected every SDG. Moving forward, he and his project WE Change aims to aid collection action through microgrants, in addition to effectively tackling misinformation.
