At least half of the world's population lacks access to quality education, and approximately ten percent of the world's children have Special Educational Needs. Furthermore, at least 20 percent of them are dyslexic and experience reading and writing impairments, making everyday tasks like navigating online maps a significant challenge. This event aims to ignite discussions on how the use of mobile applications can bridge the healthcare accessibility gaps, through looking at a real-world example: Write and Create, an Android-powered mobile app that equips underserved populations with the tools and info they need to effectively learn Chinese speaking and writing.
In this launch event, Write and Create's creator, Beatrice Lee (St. Paul's Co-educational College), will demo the app's main features and deep dive into the technology behind it. Following this, a live panel discussion will explore how to improve Write and Create and make it more valuable in the future. Attendees are encouraged to join the conversation and brainstorm how to harness the power of mobile technology to empower users with linguistic knowledge and tackle broader language learning challenges.
