Metamodern Education: complex meaning making in the 21st Century

The world is changing and becoming more complex, how do we grasp it and maintain cultural heritage?
Metamodernity provides a framework for understanding ourselves and our societies in a more complex way, as it integrates indigenous, premodern, modern, and postmodern cultural codes.
Indigenous culture can provide a connection to nature that we have lost and which re-introduces the circularity we need to solve the climate crisis etc. Premodern culture carries civilizations. Modernity gives us human rights, democracy, personal freedom, and science. Postmodernism allows us to deconstruct it all and take different perspectives. We need it all.
Nordic Bildung is currently developing a metamodern school program K-12 together with a Danish public school, and will share the ideas and the experiences so far.
Given that history has unfolded so differently around the globe, in this workshop we will also discuss what such a program might look like in other parts of the world.
