Empowell is a global, youth-led initiative dedicated to tracking how humanitarian aid efforts support—or often overlook—the mental health needs of displaced and crisis-affected children and adolescents.
Founded by Isabella Chau, the project empowers young people from refugee, migrant, and host communities to train as peer mental health advocates, storytellers, and informed navigators of their rights. Through creative storytelling, research, and youth-led peer support networks, Empowell uplifts firsthand experiences to shed light on systemic gaps and inspire action toward more inclusive, compassionate, and culturally grounded humanitarian responses.
Join us to reimagine how youth participation can transform mental health care and resilience in crisis settings. We are grateful to UNESCO and UN University for the opportunity to present at Learning Planet Festival 2026.
