Road to Carbon Neutral: How Colombia is decarbonizing its transport and energy sectors

With the objective of decarbonising the energy and transport sectors in Colombia, OpEPA, Climate Reality Latin America and the Attorney General's Office, with the support of UK PACT Colombia, have launched the second year of the Road to Carbon Neutral project, which has generated decarbonization visions in the states that generate the most carbon emissions in the country: Antioquia, Atlántico, Boyacá, Cundinamarca and Valle del Cauca.
With this approach, the project in its second year has turned its attention to the municipalities of these regions, with the aim of financing and implementing decarbonization solutions for the benefit of these communities and our planet.
Catalyzing the transition towards a carbon neutral economy, fostering a just economic recovery and mitigating the effects of the climate crisis is urgent. In line with Colombia’s E2050 goal of zero net emissions by 2050, the Road to Carbon Neutral project is committed to generating significant changes that decarbonize the transport and energy sectors. To achieve this, it is accompanying local governments as they generate solutions that carry the country towards sustainable mobility and a decarbonized energy matrix at the territorial level, in addition to the commitment of the private sector, the media, institutions and Colombian citizens.
