Financial Skills in UN SG Vision Statement on Transforming Education – What Next

The UN Secretary-General identified “Financial Skills” in the United Nations Secretary-General Vision Statement on Transforming Education as part of a new set of skills that every child and young person needs in order to successfully participate and contribute to the green, digital, and care economy transitions. Building on this vision it is important to identify practical next steps for governments, civil society, donors, and other education stakeholders to ensure all children and youth have access to these essential skills. The session will share the best practices of innovative governments and NGOs who have already started integrating “financial skills” into their education systems. The session will discuss the following areas:

1. Financial education as part of the transforming education agenda
2. Quality & equity of financial education
3. Integrating financial education into national curricula
4. Measuring financial literacy
5. Financial education as part of broader life skil
